FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • A plant medicine ceremony is more than just taking medicine it is a sacred, guided space for healing, self-discovery, and connection. Each ceremony includes preparation, intention, ritual, the journey itself, and integration afterward. The medicine opens the door, but the ceremony and community create the container for emotional release, spiritual insight, and lasting transformation.

  • Only you can know if this is the right time. Some things to reflect on:

    • Intention – Are you seeking healing, growth, or spiritual connection beyond curiosity or pressure?

    • Readiness – Are you open to facing deep truths and emotions?

    • Safety – Are you willing to be honest about your health history, knowing some conditions make plant medicine unsafe?

    • Openness – Can you surrender control and trust the process?

    • Integration – Do you have support afterward to ground your insights?

If your heart says yes, the retreat may be right for you. If you feel hesitation, it’s okay to wait until the timing is clear.

  • Plant medicines are powerful and not suitable for all. At Bodhi Retreats, every participant completes a medical intake reviewed by a licensed MD. They are not recommended for those with:

    • Heart conditions, high blood pressure, or stroke history

    • Serious liver/kidney conditions

    • Psychosis, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder

    • Epilepsy or seizure disorders

    • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

    • Current use of SSRIs, MAOIs, SNRIs, antipsychotics, or certain heart medications

Your safety is our highest priority.

  • Our retreats are not tied to any one religion. We welcome participants of all beliefs and backgrounds. The ceremonies are spiritual in nature, offering space to connect with spirit, the divine, nature, or your own inner wisdom in whatever way feels true for you.

  • Support is at the heart of our retreats.

    • Before Ceremony – guidance in preparation and intention setting.

    • During Ceremony – facilitators hold space with music, grounding practices, and one-on-one care if needed.

    • After Ceremony – integration circles, sharing, and guidance to help bring insights into daily life.

You will never walk this journey alone.

  • No, sharing is always optional. Many find it deeply healing to speak their journey aloud and listen to others, but you will be fully supported whether you choose to share or stay quiet.

  • No, we do not collect your devices. We do encourage a digital detox, as stepping away from screens helps you be more present, connect with nature, and deepen your retreat experience. Many guests choose to turn off their devices voluntarily and find it refreshing

  • Preparation deepens the medicine. We’ll provide detailed guidelines, but generally:

    • Eat light, nourishing foods; avoid alcohol, drugs, and heavy meals.

    • Get good rest and practice reflection, journaling, or meditation.

    • Set a clear intention for your journey.

    • Reduce digital distractions and spend time in nature if possible.

The more you prepare body, mind, and spirit, the more powerful your experience will be.

  • Airfare is not included. Guests book their own flights to Tulum International Airport (TQO). From the moment you land, everything else is covered, transfers, accommodations, meals, ceremonies, and excursions, so you can relax and focus on your journey.

  • Yes, you may extend your stay in Tulum at your own expense. If you do, we recommend choosing quiet, supportive accommodations to help you integrate your experience before returning to daily life.

  • No. For the safety and integrity of the group, all participants must arrive on time and stay for the full duration. This ensures your process is fully supported and the group container remains strong.
